Lewis Hamilton has set the fastest time in the final practice session ahead of the British grand prix.
The current world championship leader experience a difficult Friday which left him trailing behind teammate Nico Rosberg for both of the free practice session. However, overnight changes made to his Mercedes enable Hamilton to set the fastest time overall in the hour long session. The number 44 Mercedes clocked a fastest time of 1:32:917.
Nico Rosberg kept close company to Lewis Hamilton in second place ahead of the Ferrari’s of Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel. Toro Rosso drivers Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz completed the top six. Verstappen was quoted yesterday as saying that his Toro Rosso is second only to the Mercedes in terms of pace. The Williams duo of Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas were seventh and eighth with Lotus driver Pastor Maldonado completing the top ten.
McLaren’s continued their plan of saving on engine mileage but Fernando Alonso’s car still ran into problems. A suspected hydraulic issue lef the Spaniard with only six laps on the board and unable to complete a run on the medium compound tyre in the final part of the session.
