Weather Report for the Formula 1 Grosser Preis Santander Von Deutchland 2014 (German Grand Prix)

The German Grand Prix takes place at the Hockenheimring this year and signals the halfway point in this years Formula 1 World Championship. Mercedes, once again, look like the team to beat and they will want to put in a good performance in front of their home fans.

From a tyre perspective, Pirelli are bringing the red soft, and yellow supersoft compound to the German Grand Prix. With very high temperatures expected over this weekend it will be interesting to see the strategies the teams employ. The soft compound tyre is a high working range tyre, that performs best in high temperature environments, whereas the supersoft tyre prefers cooler temperatures. On paper, the soft tyre will be the optimal tyre for the race since we can expect rather high temperatures throughout the weekend. It does look like mother nature has a surprise planned for race day.

For Friday’s practice session its going to be hot and sunny with temperatures in the low thirties. We can expect much of the same for free practice three and qualifying. Race day looks like it will be slightly different. Although temperatures are forecast to be in the low thirties, there is a  60% chance of thundershowers forecast. This could make things rather dramatic if there are sudden downpours during the race.
