Following the announcement by the Australian Grand Prix organisers, Formula 1 Management (FOM) have moved to confirm the leak of the 2016 Formula 1 Calendar.
“It would appear that the proposed 2016 calendar has been leaked. This calendar has not yet been approved,” Read the statement from FOM.
This serves as confirmation that the calendar, which contained 21 races and was scheduled between 3 April 2016 and 27 November 2016, was in fact accurate and reveals the intentions of FOM.
The proposed calendar consists of 21 races, 7 back to back race weekends and a three week summer break. A few tweaks have been made to the schedule. The Malaysian Grand Prix moves to September with the Russian Grand Prix moving up to earlier in the year to May. The European Grand Prix in Azerbaijan will take place on 17 July.
