The FIA have confirmed that Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel will incur a penalty for taking his 6th power unit of the season.
In the statement the FIA confirmed that Vettel was replacing his entire power unit, which includes a new turbo, new engine, MGU-H and MGU-K, a new battery and a whole host of other electronic systems.
With Vettel taking a new power unit it will mean that he starts from the pit lane for Sunday’s race. Since he is starting from the pits there is no point for him to take part in qualifying, but Team Boss Christian Horner has hinted that he may run in Q1. Vettel would not want to run too much in qualifying as he needs to preserve the mileage for the engine as it needs to last him two more races. It is, however, very unlikely that Vettel will take a 7th power unit.
