    WATCH: Vettel and Kvyat argue in the Chinese GP Room of Awkward

    Sebastian Vettel has a little go at Daniil Kvyat in the #RoomofAwkard before heading on to the Chinese GP podium. Vettel was voicing his disapproval of Kvyat’s very brave move on him at the start of the Chinese GP. Kvyat took a massive chance and came at Vettel “like a torpedo” forcing the German into his Ferrari team mate Kimi Raikkonen, causing damage to both cars.

    RIP Justin Wilson 1978-2015

    English IndyCar and former Formula One driver Justin Wilson died in hospital this morning, a day after suffering serious head injuries during a race.

    Wilson, 37, had been in a coma after being struck by debris from the car of Sage Karam, who had spun into the wall further up the road during Sunday’s IndyCar Series race at Pocono Speedway.

    “This is a monumentally sad day for IndyCar and the motorsports community as a whole,” said Mark Miles, chief executive of IndyCar series parent company Hulman and Co.

    “Justin’s elite ability to drive a race car was matched by his unwavering kindness, character and humility – which is what made him one of the most respected members of the paddock.

    “As we know, the racing industry is one big family, and our efforts moving forward will be focused on rallying around Justin’s family to ensure they get the support they need during this unbelievably difficult time.”

    Wilson’s Andretti Autosport team also issued a statement, which read: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Justin Wilson. He was a tremendous racer, a valuable member of the team and respected representative to our sport.

    “While Justin was only part of the Andretti lineup for a short time, it only took a second for him to forever become part of the Andretti family.

    “His life and racing career is a story of class and passion surpassed by none. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the Wilson family and fans worldwide.

    “Godspeed, JW.”

    RIP Justin WilsonJustin Wilson drove for Minardi and Jaguar in 2003, but his tall 6ft 4in frame (he remains the tallest driver ever to have piloted a Formula One car) and lack of sponsorship cut his F1 career short. He did enjoy success in American open-wheel racing with stints in Champ Car (2004-2007) and IndyCar (2008-2015).

    With head injuries being a sensitive subject in Formula One at the moment just six weeks after Jules Bianchi succumbed to he serious head injury he sustained at the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix, Wilson’s death is another hefty blow for motor racing and hearts around paddock and pit garage are weighing very heavily. Seven time F1 world champion Michael Schumacher is also still continuing a long recovery from his serious head injury resulting from a skiing accident in December 2013.

    There’s been an outpouring of sadness and condolences for the loss and family of Justin Wilson from the Formula One community on Twitter.

    Jules Bianchi Update: Condition ‘more terrible than if he had died,’ says his father

    Jules Bianchi’s father, Philippe, has admitted that he is becoming a lot less optimistic about the chances of his son recovering from the injuries suffered during a horrific crash at last year’s Japanese Grand Prix.

    Jules Bianchi remains in a coma at a hospital in Nice, nine months after his horrific collision with a recovery vehicle at the grand prix at Suzuka and his father describes the situation as one that his putting the Bianchi family through “daily torture”.

    Bianchi suffered severe brain injuries in the crash and his family have remained hopeful, remaining at his bedside, but his father wass a lot less optimistic in an interview with France Info, a local radio station.

    “It’s unbearable, it’s a daily torture,” Philippe Bianchi told the radio station. “We sometimes feel like we’re going crazy, because for me, it certainly is more terrible than if he had died. For we’re not able to help him more than we can.

    Jules Bianchi“Time goes by and I am now less optimistic than I may have been two or three months after the crash, when we could hope for a better evolution. At some point, you need to be well-grounded and realise how serious the situation is.”

    Bianchi, who was driving for Marussia and was part of Ferrari’s young driver programme, has not made any significant progress in his recovery. His father went on to say that waking up from the coma would lead to further complications as he struggles with a conversation he had with Jules following Michael Schumacher’s skiing accident in December 2013.

    “If he finds himself with huge disabilities, we’re pretty sure it’s not at all what Jules would want. We had talked about it. He told us that if he were to have an accident similar to Michael Schumacher’s, if he were even just not to be able to drive anymore, it would be very hard for him to accept it. Because it was his life.”

    We all continue to hope for a full recover for Jules and our thoughts remain with the Bianchi family throughout their struggle.

    Video: Felipe Massa rolls in scary Turn 1 crash at Hockenheim

    Brazilian Formula One driver, Felipe Massa, crashed and rolled in spectacular fashion just seconds after the start of the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim on Sunday.

    Massa’s German GP lasted only a matter of seconds after he was clipped and rolled by Kevin Magnussen at the first corner on the first lap of the race.

    F1 Rookie Magnussen had taken the inside line into the corner in an attempt to pass Massa, only to find the Brazilian attempting to sweep through the corner ahead of him. This did not work out for either driver and ended with Massa’s Williams in the gravel and out of the race.

    Thankfully, Massa walked away from the incident unharmed but another DNF to his name despite the much-improved performace of his Williams car, will not have him feeling anything but bitterly disaapointed. .

    The stewards investigated the incident but ruled that it was a racing incident and no further action was taken against Massa or Magnussen.
