Ricciardo Slapped With Bahrain Grid Penalty
March 30, 2014 News

Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo was handed a 10-place grid penalty for next week’s Bahrain Grand Prix.

Although he was given a 10 second stop-and-go penalty during the race the 2014 rules dictate that a 10-place grid penalty is also applied at the next race.

The stop-and-go penalty was incurred on Ricciardo’s final pit stop of the afternoon where he was released from the pit with his front right wheel not secured properly. He soon realised and stopped his car in the pit lane. The Red Bull mechanics pushed him back to his pit box and secured the wheel and he was sent back out. But his problems did not end there. He was given a 10-second stop-and-go penalty and he then had a front wing failure. Making his afternoon go from bad to worse.

He later retired from the race to save the engine.
