F1 2017: Mexican Gp Quali Report – Vettel Delivers
October 28, 2017 Featured Stories

Sebastian Vettel has delivered a stunning lap to secure pole position for the 2017 Mexican grand prix.

The Ferrari driver had it all to do in qualifying and he delivered with a quite stunning lap to take pole position for the Mexican grand prix. Alongside on the front row, and less than a tenth adrift, is Max Verstappen who looked in fine form throughout the quali session.

Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas will share the second row in third and fourth with a 5th place or better all that Hamilton needs to secure his fourth driver’s championship title. Kimi Raikkonen and Esteban Ocon will share the third row in fifth and sixth respectively.

The second Red Bull of Daniel Ricciardo was mysteriously off the pace and will start Sunday’s race in seventh overall. Meanwhile, Nico Hulkenberg, Carlos Sainz, and local hero Sergio Perez will round out the top ten.

While Brendon Hartley set the 13th quickest time overall he was a no-show in Q2 as yet another unreliability issue put an end to Toro Rosso’s participation. This comes after teammate Pierre Gasly did not even start quali due to a engine change stemming from a failure in free practice three.

With tyre degradation likely to reduce the Mexican grand prix to a one-stopper it will all hang on the run to turn one for Mercedes as both Ferrari and Red Bull have shown a better long run pace than the Silver Arrows.
