35-Place Grid Penalty for Alonso

Fernando Alonso was handed a 35-place grid penalty after Honda elected to change his entire power unit after engineers found a hydraulic leak.

This effectively means that the Spaniard will start at the back of the grid alongside fellow countryman Carlos Sainz in the Toro Rosso who was handed a 20-place grid penalty.

Alonso’s car was fitted with his 8th internal combustion engine, 8th MGU-K, 7th batter, 10th turbocharger, 10th MGU-H and 6th control electronics.

Elsewhere on the grid, Renault elected to change a few components on Jolyon Palmer’s engine which drops him a total of 20-grid places.

Palmer’s car was fitted with it’s 6th turbocharger and 5th internal combustion which makes it a total of 20-place grid drop.
